Raiders trade for Browns' Wimbley

The Raiders have traded undisclosed draft compensation to the Cleveland Browns in return for OLB Kamerion Wimbley, a league source told Scout.com.

Wimbley's career with the Browns started off very well after he was selected in the first round of the 2006 NFL Draft. He posted 11 sacks as a rookie, but only totaled 16.5 over the next three seasons. Wimbley started and played in 63 out of 64 regular season games for the Browns. The only game he missed was in 2009 because of flu-like symptoms.

With the Raiders, there's a pretty good possibility that he moves to defensive end since Oakland runs a 4-3 scheme. Wimbley only played end in college at Florida St. University, but moved out outside linebacker in Cleveland's 3-4 scheme.

A source said the final season of Wimbley's six-year rookie deal will void, but there's an up to $7.765 million buyback for 2011 based on statistical achievement from previous seasons. Wimbley is set to make $1.065 million in base salary for 2010.
