Browns Draft Preview

Here's a look at what Cleveland did this off-season and their needs going into the NFL draft.

Cleveland Browns
2014 draft picks:
1st round (4), 1(26), 2(35), 3(71), 3(83), 4(106), 4(127), 5(145), 6(180), 7(218)

New head coach Mike Pettine and General Manager Ray Farmer have a mess on their hands. But they also have a job to do and a wonderful opportunity to turn this franchise around with 10 picks in this draft, including two in the first round and three of the top 35 picks overall.

Needs
1. Quarterback

The Branden Weeden experiment is over and he's no longer with the team. Gone as well is Jason Campbell. In the time Brian Hoyer did play in 2013 he looked good but then eventually went down and out [for the season] with a knee injury. The Browns are in prime position with any one of their first three picks to go get their quarterback. It all depends on how their board sets up in how they see Blake Bortles, Johnny Manziel, Teddy Bridgewater, Derek Carr and the others. It wouldn't surprise me at all to see them wait until they pick at that No. 35 spot.

2. Wide Receiver
Can you imagine pairing Josh Gordon with Sammy Watkins, if the Browns were to pick the Clemson standout at No. 4, if he's still available? Then again, you can get Gordon's bookend with your second or third pick in this draft, as wide receiver is a deep position. It also depends on how they view Watkins versus the field. He may be too good to pass up.

3. Offensive Line
The Browns could use another tackle and guard or a guy that can be a swing player and do both.

4. Running Back
Ben Tate could prove to be a very good free agent signee. Then again, you need more than just one running back. Cleveland could land a good one somewhere in the middle rounds, as there is a good group of backs in this 2014 draft class.

5. Linebacker
The Browns signed Karlos Dansby but how much does he have left in the tank? Cleveland needs to address the inside linebacker position and get some more help.
