| Biography: |
| Drafted in the fourth round of the 2000 draft, Aaron Shea has emerged as a key role player on the Browns' offense. A tough and versatile player, the former Michigan Wolverine has appeared at both tight end and H-Back over the past two years. As a rookie in 2000, Shea caught 30 passes for 302 yards and two TDs. His 30 catches ranked him eighth among rookie receivers that year.
At 6'3", Shea is too short to be considered a prototypical tight end. With the Browns lacking anything resembling a starting fullback on the roster, Shea will almost certainly line up as the starting H-Back for Bruce Ariens' offense. A solid blocker with reliable hands, Shea is a good fit for the hybrid H-Back position. He also remains a key contributor on special teams, recording 10 tackles in 2001.
Shea's production tailed off in 2001. Relegated to reserve duty behind starting H-Back Mike Sellars (remember him?) and tight end Ricky Dudley, Shea caught just 14 balls for 86 yards. A shoulder injury forced Shea out of the last four games of the 2001 season. |
