| Combines with Rashad Baker to form what Vol head man Phillip Fulmer calls ‘‘maybe the best pair of safeties in college football.’’ Wilson has a lock on the starting job at strong safety following a strong showing in 2002 and a superior spring. He arrived from junior college with a reputation as a big hitter but proved adept as a pass defender, as well. 2002 - Played in all 13 games, starting the last seven. Recorded 57 tackles and 25 assists, including 5.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks. He also broke up five passes and caused a fumble. Junior college - Tabbed first-team juco All-America, he was ranked as the No. 2 defensive back and No. 25 overall prospect in all of junior college football by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. SuperPrep listed him No. 17 among juco prospects. A two-time Golden Gate Conference selection, he recorded 135 career tackles, 9 1/2 sacks, 5 interceptions in helping CCSF win back-to-back national titles.
