Year four of the new Browns and the offensive line is still a complete mess. While the Browns are threatening to make plenty of moves on the OL during free agency, the team kicked off its efforts with the signing of Ryan Tucker from the St. Louis Rams. A versatile, five-year veteran, Tucker appeared at guard, tackle, and center during his tenure with the Rams, and that makes him a valuable addition to an unsettled OL squad. What’s more, Tucker was a multi-year starter on one of the most successful offenses in the history of the NFL. No doubt the Browns hope that some of that success was due to Tucker’s fine blocking.

Right now, the Browns are projecting Tucker at the right tackle position, where Roger Chanoine struggled last season. However, at 6-5 and 305 pounds, Tucker lacks the road-grader size needed to plow under opposing defensive ends and tackles. More likely: Tucker shifts to right guard once an RT upgrade arrives.

Tucker was exposed in the expansion draft by the Rams, in an effort to shed his high $3.86 million cap figure. When Houston failed to grab the lineman, the Rams cut him in a cap saving maneuver.
