Biography:
Let’s get the measurables out of the way. At 6-5 and 265 pounds, Darnell Sanders has the dimensions of a prototype tight end. But cutting a mean figure in a uniform won’t mean much when Tim Couch needs a crucial six yard completion late in the game (ask O.J. Santiago).

One thing is certain: Darnell Sanders is chock full of potential. Known as an accomplished blocker at Ohio State, Sanders helped power an OSU rushing attack that averaged nearly 180 yards per game. In 2000, he caught 23 passes for 270 yards and 5 TDs. His numbers slipped in 2001, but Sanders shone in the Outback Bowl, scoring twice on 5 catches for 56 yards.

When the Browns brought Sanders in for a workout, they were so impressed by his sure hands and athleticism that they made a point to trade up in the fourth round to get the former Warrensville Heights High standout. Sanders came out for the NFL draft as a junior.
