Drafted in the sixth round (selection 200) of the NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns on April 28, 2007. Cleveland traded the sixth-round choice (#195) to the Dallas Cowboys for a sixth-round choice (#200) and a seventh-round choice (#234). Purcell spent most of 2007 on the team's practice squad, and was promoted to the active roster prior to the last regular-season game on 12/26/07.
The Browns are thin on the defensive line. Purcell is a bit undersized to play
end in the 3-4 defense, but he has an ability to get to the quarterback. He had
9.5 sacks in his final year with the Rainbows. |
