| Biography: |
| Tyrone Rogers was one of the pleasant surprises of the Browns 2001 campaign. When Courtney Brown went out with a knee injury, Rogers found himself in the thick of the defensive line rotation. An undrafted free agent signed to the Browns practice squad in 1999, Rogers displayed quickness and instinct, but was limited by his light 236 pound frame. Rogers has managed to bulk up over the past couple seasons, and reportedly weighs in close to 270 pounds. As a result, Rogers has emerged in the defensive end rotation as a capable pass rusher and credible run stopper.
Rogers should get a chance to shine in 2002. With pass-rush specialist Keith McKenzie gone to other pastures in search of greenbacks, Rogers could find himself as a key player on third-and-long. Coaches may opt to slide starting LDE Kennard Lang inside on passing downs, giving Rogers plenty of opportunities to rush the passer. Just as important, Rogers looks to be the first to fill in should either Brown or Lang come out. |
