| Another draft pick in the Anthony Henry-Lewis Sanders mold, Michael Jameson was selected in the sixth round of the 2001 draft from Texas A&M. A heralded safety prospect, Jameson is a versatile player who manned both the free and strong safety positions in college. Many scouts projected the 5'11", 186-pound player as a cornerback, citing his excellent footwork and flexible hips. Jameson struggled with injuries his senior year but came on strong in the Hula Bowl and NFL Combine to get the attention of Browns scouts.
Jameson put together an impressive camp and preseason, but promptly landed on injured-reserve in August (alongside Lewis Sanders) when he fractured an ankle in a preseason contest against the Redskins. Jameson should be fully recovered for the 2002 season. |
