| Biography: |
| One of the early signings of the 2001 free agent season by the Browns, Boyer was part of Butch Davis' makeover of the linebacker position. Dwayne Rudd, Anthony Denman, and Boyer displaced Marty Moore and Rahim Abdullah, who held down the weakside LB position in 2000. In Boyer, the Browns get a veteran reserve linebacker who has played for the Jacksonville Jaguars since the team was founded in 1995. Boyer was drafted in 1994 in the sixth round by Miami, and was exposed to Jacksonville in the expansion draft the following year.
Boyer emerged as a key contributor on the Browns defense in 2001, winding up with a career-high 80 tackles and two interceptions. Boyer appeared in all 16 games for the Browns last year, and started two games at middle linebacker. |
