How Acquired:
2003 draft, second round, 52nd overall. Pro Experience
Cleveland Browns (2003-present)
2003: Appeared primarily on special teams for the Browns, appearing in
every game while making the jump from small-college football to the NFL...
Picked up eleven tackles on specials teams, as well as four tackles from the
linebacker position... Filled in for the injured Brant Boyer at weak-side
linebacker against Seattle.
College Experience
West Texas A&M (1998-2002)
Best player on a bad (0-11) West Texas A&M team his senior year... Made over 100
tackles each year after converting from defensive end as a sophomore... Lost the
2000 season and was red-shirted due to an elbow injury prior to the season...
Top season statistically was his sophomore campaign, where Thompson made 136
tackles... Played strong-side inside linebacker in the 3-4 his sophomore season,
before moving outside his last two years.
Contract Status: Signed a five-year contract with the Browns, binding him
to the team through the 2007 season.
