2003 draft, fourth round, 115th overall Pro Experience
Cleveland Browns (2003 -present)
2003: Explosive performance in the season finale against Cincinnati
yielded a number of Browns records... Carried the ball 26 times for 186 yards
and two touchdowns... Most yards by a Browns running back in 20 years (Earnest
Byner, 1984)... 78-yard touchdown romp was the longest run from scrimmage since
Greg Pruitt's 78-yarder in 1977... Prior to season finale, spent seven games in
the Injured Reserve list and played sparingly in games against Arizona and
Denver... Carried the ball twenty times for 68 yards against Baltimore.
College Experience
Virginia Tech (1998-2002)
Emerged into spotlight his sophomore year at Virginia Tech when he led the
nation's Division 1-A teams in scoring... College career was halted his junior
year due to a knee injury suffered during the first game of the season... Came
back strong as a senior (257 carries, 1325 yards, 22 TDs)... Named Comeback
Player of the Year and received All-Big East and All-American mention... Also
returned five kickoffs for 132 yards... Re-wrote Tech's record books his
sophomore year, 222 carries for 1,207 yards and a stunning 28 touchdowns (school
record)... Also set single-game school records for touchdowns and points...
Carried the ball 44 times for 136 yards in 1999... Redshirted as a freshman in
1998.
Contract Status: Signed five-year contract with the Browns prior to the
2003 season, binding him to the Browns through the 2007 campaign.
