Claimed off of waivers (Carolina Panthers) on 8/29/2001. Pro Experience
Cleveland Browns (2001-present)
2003: Played in nine games as a defensive tackle, backing up Gerard Warren and
Orpheus Roye... Finished the season with 29 tackles (career high) and career
single-game high of five tackles against both Cincinnati and Oakland... Season
was derailed by knee problems, as McKinley went on injured reserve on 11/12/03.
2002: Season was highlighted by two field goal blocks against Pittsburgh and
Tampa Bay, the latter shared with Anthony Henry... Got into thirteen games and
made fifteen tackles... Also broke up two passes against Tampa Bay on 10/13/02.
2001: Picked up by the Browns off of waivers following training camp... Spent
the first four games on the practice squad... Appeared in seven games as a
reserve, making twelve tackles... Became a regular part of the defensive line
rotation towards the end of the season.
Carolina Panthers (2000-2001)
2001: Cut by the Panthers at the end of training camp, and was available
less than a day before being claimed by Cleveland.
2000: Selected in the fourth round by the Panthers, but had his rookie season
derailed by a knee injury which knocked him out of half the season... Made 17
tackles in the seven games he was active.
College Experience
Mississippi State(1998-1999)
Appeared in every game as a junior and was a starter at nose tackle his senior
year... Had 91 tackles in two years, including 56 tackles and
two sacks his senior year.
Holmes Community College (Mississippi) (1998-1999)
Appeared in games as both a freshman and moved into a starting role as a
sophomore... Made an eye-catching 100 tackles from the line during his sophomore
year.
Contract Status: Signed through the 2006 season.
