2002 draft, fourth round, 111th selection. Pro Experience
Cleveland Browns (2002-present)
2003: Break-out season for the Browns was somewhat interrupted by
injuries, but not enough to prevent Taylor from 95 tackles and an
interception... Won the starting weakside linebacker role during training
camp... Had a stellar game against New England, making 21 tackles... Back and
elbow injuries interrupted the season, causing Taylor to miss three games and
see limited action in two others... Also contributed four special teams tackles.
2002: Limited to seven games (no starts) due to a hamstring injury... Saw
some action as linebacker, but played mostly on special teams... Finished with
one special teams tackle and four tackles at linebacker... Was placed on the IR
on 11/26/02.
College Experience
Virginia Tech (1998-2001)
Outstanding linebacker for Virginia Tech, who started 33 of a possible 44 games
while playing for the Hokies... Wound up with 318 tackles and 7 sacks for his
college career... Was a semi-finalist for the Butkus Award his junior and senior
years... Received second and third-team All-America mentions his final two
seasons... Played on special teams and even punted three times... All-Big East
first team his senior year... Started every game as a sophomore, and saw reserve
action as a freshman.
Contract Status: Signed through the end of the 2004 season.
