How Acquired:
Signed as an unrestricted free agent on 2/12/2000. Pro Experience
Cleveland Browns (2000-present )
2003: Was the starting right defensive tackle, appearing in every game...
Registered 85 tackles (career high) and 1.5 sacks... Attained a career-best with
twelve tackles against the St. Louis Rams... Also registered ten tackles against
Baltimore late in the season.
2002: Found a single position to play and responded well, starting each
game at right defensive tackle... Registered 76 tackles for the season... Was
only credited with half a sack, but picked the right games to excel: Roye nailed
eleven tackles twice during the season, both times against Pittsburgh.
2001: Bounced back-and-forth between sides of the line and from tackle to
defensive end, resulting in a sub-par season... Wound up with 34 tackles and one
interception on the year... Started five times at right defensive end, five
times at left defensive end... Highlight of the year was likely an end zone
tackle on ex-teammate Jerome Bettis which resulted in a safety.
2000: Started every game at defensive tackle and responded with a 69
tackle, two sack season for the Browns... Was in on nine tackles in both games
against the Steelers... Also blocked a field goal attempt and recovered a
fumble.
Pittsburgh Steelers (1996-1999)
1999: Started every game for the Steelers, primarily at left defensive
end... Registered 57 tackles and 4.5 sacks for the season... Also had an
interception and fumble recovery.
1998: Began to emerge on the Steelers defensive line, starting nine games
for Pittsburgh... Wound up with 42 tackles and 3.5 sacks... Primarily played
left defensive end for the Steelers.
1997: Again did very well on special teams, registering 17 tackles...
Played defensive tackle on a limited bases, getting four tackles on the season.
1996: Emerged as a standout on special teams for the Steelers, being
inactive for three games... Started to come on as a tackle as the season
progressed, getting a sack against the Patriots in the playoffs.
College Experience
Florida State (1994-1995)
Played defensive tackle for the Seminoles, making 35 tackles as a junior and 45
as a senior, despite being hobbled by injuries much of the year.
Jones Community College (Mississippi) (1992-1993)
Played for two years for the Junior College, making the Junior College
All-American team as a sophomore, when he was credited with 76 tackles.
Contract Status: Signed through the end of the 2005 season.
