The Cleveland Browns announced today that they have re-signed restricted free agent Alvin McKinley to a four-year contract. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The team is currently only $800,000 under the salary cap and had previously tendered a $605,000 contract to McKinley. The combination of increased salary and one-quarter of any signing bonus McKinley recieves would not be able to exceed that amont.
McKinley was a pleasant surprise last year for the Browns, particularly on special teams. The 6-3, 292 pound defensive tackle had a blocked field goal against the Pittsburgh Steelers and partially blocked another against Tampa Bay. McKinley also got one sack during the play-off game against the Steelers.
