I honestly can't describe how I feel right now. After all the frustration, the endless stream of smack I've taken from my Steeler friends, the amount of Pittsburgh fan hollering I've endured in bars, I can't believe this.
The Browns. Our favorite team. They just:
*Beat the defending Super Bowl Champs at home
*Likely kept them out of the postseason
I do not care what happens the rest of the season.
Let me repeat.
I
DON'T
CARE
WHAT
HAPPENS
Are the Browns 2-11? They sure seem like 13-0 to me.
I WAS ABLE TO TEXT SMACK TALK TO MY STEELER FRIENDS AND HAVE IT MEAN SOMETHING.
It was pretty simple smack talk too.
"How did that game feel?"
That's all I said.
Didn't get a response for the most part. Not too surprised actually.
The DJ fired up a pretty anti Pittsburgh song directly after the game.
Yes, he's a Browns fan.
You should have seen the faces of the Black and Gold fans in attendance who have been used to singing a (usually off key) rendition of "Here We Go Steelers" at the top of their lungs after nearly every Pittsburgh-Cleveland game since the return.
Not tonight, Steeler fan.
Tonight most every fan in Browns nation is getting their holiday football wish.
The wish? That Cleveland puts a major hurting on your hopes and dreams for football in January.
I know the Browns are still a bad football team with major issues all over the place.
I know the Browns are heading for another top 5, likely top 3 draft pick, again.
I know the Browns are a long way from contention.
Except tonight, I don't know anything.
Tonight they put a major hurt on a rival that has made them personal doormats this decade.
Tonight Browns football was fun again.
Tonight is all that matters to me.
Browns fans, I ask you the same question I posed to my Steeler buddies via text:
"How did that game feel?"
I'm betting that it was pretty damn sweet for you.
Me too.
