It's about time: the Cleveland Browns have finally signed LB David Bowens to a new free agent contract. The reported four-year deal helps Eric Mangini's club solidify their linebacking corps.

The OBR has been reporting over the last week that the Browns and LB David Bowens have been continuing to talk and that a signing could occur at any time. Tonight, that appears to have happened.

According to the New Jersey Star-Ledger, the Browns have signed Bowens to a four-year, $7.2 million deal as a free agent. Bowens became available a few weeks ago, after having been released by the Jets as a cap casualty.

Bowens is the first Browns signing of a free agent who has a strong chance to compete for a starting job. He joins fellow Jets C.J. Mosley and Hank Poteat in Cleveland, as new Browns head coach Eric Mangini continues to surround himself with players he liked having on his roster in New York.
