The Mangini hiring has residual effect as one candidate for the GM post pulls his name from consideration.

A source close to Tom Heckert has confirmed to The OBR that the Philadelphia Eagles general manager has removed his name from consideration for an executive position with the Cleveland Browns.

Heckert's original inclination was to go through with the interview with owner Randy Lerner Friday afternoon, even after the news of Eric Mangini's hiring broke yesterday evening.  However, upon further and deeper review, the GM decided to pull out of the process and informed the organization he was no longer a candidate.

Heckert, the source said, was uncomfortable going to an organization where he would have no input whatsoever in the hiring of a head coach.
