ORIGINAL STORY 9:50AM: The OBR's John Taylor reports this morning that Browns head coach Romeo Crennel has been notified that his services are no longer required. The information comes from sources within the team. There has been no press release or official announcement from the team.
The move had been long expected to take place soon after the team's season-ending loss to the Steelers. GM Phil Savage's role as GM was terminated over the weekend.
Fred Greetham is representing the OBR in Berea this morning for Randy Lerner's press conference and will have more after Lerner speaks to the media this morning.
Recent local press reports that Crennel might be offered another role in the organization appear to have been incorrect, as Crennel was not offered any role during his meeting this morning.
Scout.com's Adam Caplan said the team still owes Crennel about $9.8 million ($2.2 million for next season and $7.6 million for 2010-2011).
