Blog: Browns Stun Giants, 35-14

The crowd screams, the clock ticks down, the Browns WIN! Here's the final quarter of our blog, reproduced as the OBR prepares for a flood of post-game coverage...

FIRST SERIES (Browns): On the first play of the fourth quarter, Braylon Edwards streaks to the end zone. Giants CB Aaron Ross falls and is injured on the play, and Edwards is wide open. Anderson hits him for the TOUCHDOWN! BROWNS 27, GIANTS 14

SECOND SERIES (Giants): Everything is breaking the Browns way tonight. On the kickoff from Phil Dawson. Ahmad Bradshaw is apparently looking downfield and it goes through his hands. When he picks it up and runs, he gets only to the 14 where the Giants start with the thunderous sounds of the crowd in their ears.

Now it’s the Giants’ turn to overcome their own penalties, as two Manning-to-Smith passes are required to overcome a face mask penalty on Brandon Jacobs. But the Giants survive to get a first down at their own 32.

Two runs by Jacobs creates a third-and-two at the 40 with the crowd screaming. Manning converts it with pretty 17-yard pass to Burress at the Browns 43. There is 10:50 left.

Now the Giants offense is clicking… Derrick Ward has a great hole to run through for 13 yards to the Browns 30. With the Browns blitzing again and Rogers out, the Giants go back to the same play, with Ward slashing 15 yards up the middle to the Browns 15.

Twitter is going nuts right now with people talking about the Browns. Awesome.

Jacobs gets another six and the Giants are inside the Browns 10.

Manning drops with the second and four and throws and IT’S PICKED OFF BY ERIC WRIGHT! Wright steps in front of Amani Toomer and TAKES THE BALL DOWN THE SIDELINE FOR 94 YARDS AND A TOUCHDOWN! WOW!

Big plays and turnovers. That’s how a 1-3 team slays a Giant.

Anderson and the Browns go for two to make it a three-TD game and convert with Edwards open quickly in the end zone.

BROWNS 35, GIANTS 14

THIRD SERIES (Giants): The Giants go to the no-huddle from their 37 and have some success against a Browns defense that’s playing a bit looser with a three-touchdown lead.

Ward gets 18 on the ground, Manning passes for 13 to Burress. Then it’s Ward for another 14 on the ground and the Giatns are suddenly at the Browns 14.

But then the Giant inexplicably slow things down and stall out. Two short passes get just one yard each, and Jacobs can’t get a first down when he runs the ball. Manning’s pass is incomplete on fourth down and the Browns get the ball back on downs.

FOURTH SERIES (Browns): With a big lead, the ball, and a very happy crowd, the Browns go to the run. Lewis for one, Lewis for two, Lewis for 13 (first down), Lewis for four and clock counts down to the two-minute warning.

Lewis then runs for eight and a first down, and then it’s take-a-knee time for Anderson and the Browns.

The crowd screams, the clock ticks down. The Browns WIN!

FINAL SCORE: BROWNS 35, GIANTS 14
