First Signing Creeps Closer
Martin Rucker (Wills / TheOBR.com)

Cleveland Browns fans have largely been confident about the team's ability to sign their picks, but that doesn't mean some low-level nail-biting hasn't been starting over the last day or so. The absence of signings may soon be over, as John Taylor reports that TE Martin Rucker is close to inking his deal.

While the pace of signings has been glacier-like, at best, the Cleveland Browns should have at least one of their draft picks signed at some point tomorrow.

With the key word being "should", of course.

According to a member of the CAA team representing fourth-round pick Martin Rucker, the two sides are close to reaching a deal and should reach an official accord at some point tomorrow.  Barring the obligatory "snag that could crop up in any negotiation", the CAA member said.

However, that being said, no obstacles are expected in the talks between Rucker's camp and the Browns which would prevent a deal being consummated within the next 24 hours.

Rucker's deal will be for four years, and will contain guaranteed money in the neighborhood of $500,000, The Orange & Brown Report has learned.

The tight end out of Missouri is scheduled to fly into Cleveland tomorrow, where it's expected he will sign his rookie deal and take a physical.
