If there's a rumor involving a member of the Cleveland Browns, chances are that the first place that it will show up is in the OBR forums. It's one of the reasons many people in the Cleveland media read the OBR message boards on a daily basis.
This morning, discussion started after a forum member related that Joe Jurevicius had another recent knee surgery.
The fans in the Watercooler can be pretty skeptical about rumors showing up without attribution, and asked for more proof. We've been tracking this one down and can break the news this afternoon that WR Joe Jurevicius did, in fact have a surgical procedure to clean up his knee recently.
Lane Adkins was able to confirm the stories for our visitors, which you can read here and here.
The veteran receiver is expected to be fine moving forward, and his timetable for return will be based on the progress of his rehab.
This afternoon, a Browns spokesman confirmed to the OBR that Jurevicius had the procedure done, and that it involved a cleaning up of the knee. The team will be providing a release to the media in the near future.
UPDATE: Shortly after the OBR published our story on the surgery, the team issued a press release. It reads: In the process of his recovery and preparation for the upcoming season, Browns wide receiver Joe Jurevicius has had ongoing swelling and discomfort in his knee. Joe had a further clean out to help him in his recovery and control his symptoms. The procedure was performed late yesterday at the Cleveland Clinic. No determination has been made on Joe's status for training camp, which opens July 23rd.
