The Browns new tight end started his adjustment to the pro game in Berea today.

The first day as a professional football player was an eye-opener for Martin Rucker.

The Browns tight end, who was snagged in the fourth round of the NFL draft last weekend, spoke to the media Friday after the opening of the rookie mini-camp.

Rucker joined four other members of his draft class, fifteen undrafted free agents, and 54 tryout players on the practice fields in Berea.

“I’m definitely not in college anymore,” he joked. “Everyone is a lot faster and the coaches are a lot more demanding.”

One of the premier tight ends in the history of the Big 12 while at the University of Missouri, Rucker caught 203 passes for 2,175 yards during his college career. He was an all-conference selection last season with a whopping 84 receptions for 834 yards and eight touchdowns.

But none of that matters now. Rucker is now trying to soak in as much knowledge about the Browns and the NFL as possible.

“I’m trying to do a little bit of research,” he said.
