Could the parade of linebackers visiting Berea be coming to an end? Lane Adkins has been following up on the Browns free agent pursuits all day, and fills you in on the latest...

A parade of linebackers visiting Cleveland could be coming to an end. After visiting with former Pittsburgh Steelers outside linebacker Clark Haggans on Wednesday, the Browns appear poised to add a veteran to improve the quality and depth at the position.

Haggans, a productive and experienced linebacker in the 3-4 defensive schem, impressed the Cleveland staff Wednesday during his visit and could be the 'fit' the team has sought to fill the vital role of a pass rushing outside linebacker.

According to a Browns team source today (Thursday), the Browns and the representative for Haggans (Jeff Sperbeck) have discussed options for the veteran in Cleveland, as well as discussing parameters of a deal.

"I would not say the team is engaging in negotiations at this time, but rather the feeling out process has begun," the source said. "Cleveland has more than a passing interest in the veteran and the expectations coming from the player side could make or break where this goes."

Sperbeck has been unavailable for comment following Haggans' visit with the team.

While the Browns entertained Haggans on Wednesday, the team remained in contact with the representative for another linebacker, former All-Pro Al Wilson of the Denver Broncos.

According to a Browns team source today (Thursday), the Browns and Wilson's representative (Peter Schaffer) have discussed parameters of what the veteran linebacker seeks as a free agent. While Wilson is believed to be receiving interest from other teams, the Browns have remained a consistent presence in discussions regarding the one-time Pro Bowl linebacker.

"The Browns are not breaking down the door, but have been talking with Wilson's agent," the source said. "Nothing is imminent at this time, but the Browns appear poised to make a move in the very near future."
