Browns Sign P Ernster; Waive Perry

Indicating that Dave Zastudil may not be able to play, the Browns sign a punter...

After Browns P Dave Zastudil injured his back during practice on Monday, there has been continuing speculation about whether the 2006 free agent signee would be able to go for the Browns against the Steelers on Sunday.

The answer appears doubtful this afternoon, as the Browns have signed P Paul Ernster, a veteran who spent the first two years of his career with the Denver Broncos organization. Ernster appeared in all sixteen games for the Broncos in 2006, punting 80 times for a 41.7 yard average, as well as handling kickoffs.

In order to make room on the 53-man roster, the Browns waived DB Jereme Perry.
