Tuesday Practice Notes
Travis Wilson

Posted Jul 31, 2007

The two-minute offense went in, but will Travis Wilson be part of it?

Jottings from the notebook after Tuesday's afternoon practice:

PLAYBOOK GETS LONGER: The Browns installed the two-minute offense during practice Tuesday. Both quarterbacks were shaky, although Charlie Frye looked better than Derek Anderson. Frye put the team in position for a field goal, but Coach Romeo Crennel was looking for a touchdown.

A pass from Frye to Travis Wilson in the end zone on the final play of Frye's possession was short and intercepted by Brandon McDonald. It was McDonald's second interception in two days.

CARTER IN CONTROL: Crennel said the top three receivers are Braylon Edwards, Joe Jurevicius and Tim Carter. He did not say where Wilson ranks in the mix, and he said which two of the top three starts would depend on the opponent and the game plan.

Wilson was shaky on Saturday and Sunday. He looked better Monday but Tuesday was another off day for last year's third round draft choice from Oklahoma.

WINSLOW WORKS HARD: Kellen Winslow took some double shifts Tuesday because he will be rested in one of the two practices Wednesday. Winslow had an excellent practice. One of his catches was on a pass from Ken Dorsey that Andra Davis tipped. On another pass down the right sideline from Frye, Winslow reached over Jereme Perry and tightroped the sideline as he made the catch.

ANDERSON'S MISFIRES: Derek Anderson has the bad habit of staring down his receivers. He tried to correct that flaw Tuesday by looking right and at the last moment throwing over the middle to Winslow. The ball should have been intercepted by Sean Jones, but Jones dropped it.

Another pass from Anderson for Steve Heiden was almost picked off by Brodney Pool. On that one, offensive coordinator Rob Chudzinski barked at Heiden for not running back to the ball.

Frye was not perfect, either. Aside from the interception he threw in the two-minute drill, one of his passes was batted down by Ted Washington.
