BROWNS ANNOUNCE ROSTER MOVES
The Cleveland Browns placed DL Orpheus Roye and S Brian Russell on Injured Reserve, and have signed DL Orien (Or-ee-in) Harris and S Ben Emanuel to the active roster, the club announced today.
Roye, 6-4 and 315 lbs., started in nine games at left
defensive end this season with 38 tackles, including 16 solo, one sack for three
yards, three tackles for loss and eight quarterback pressures.
Russell, 6-2 and 207 lbs., started the first 12 games this
season at free safety and totaled 51 tackles, including 32 solo, with one
interception for six yards, six passes defensed and 1 forced fumble. Russell
missed last week’s game at Pittsburgh on Dec. 7, with an elbow injury.
Emanuel, 6-2 and 220 lbs., played in 11 games, including seven
starts, last season for San Francisco and totaled 43 tackles, 0.5 sacks, one
interception for three yards and two passes defensed. Emanuel was signed to a
two-year contract.
Harris, 6-3 and 302 lbs., was signed to a two-year contract by
the Browns off the Pittsburgh practice squad. Harris was the Steelers
fourth-round draft choice, 133rd overall, in the 2006 NFL Draft out of the
University of Miami and had spent the entire season on the practice squad.
