Here are highlights of the head coach Romeo Crennel's press conference on Monday afternoon...

BEREA – Here is a synopsis of Romeo Crennel’s press briefing with the media on Monday.

Special Play: “The special teams made a big contribution in the win and helped us with the field position in the game,” Crennel said. “Our guys did their job. We blocked well and ran well.”

On the Droughns Fumble: Crennel explained why he didn’t challenge the fumble called on RB Reuben Droughns, which led to a Raiders’ touchdown.

“I thought about challenging the fumble, but I had information that said it was a fumble,” he said. “After looking at the tape, (Droughns) was on top of people and wasn’t really down. We would’ve lost that challenge.”

On the Rushing Defense: “They hit two long runs. They had 100 yards on those two runs. If you could eliminate those two plays, but they had those plays and we have to go back and re-emphasize using your help to stop those plays from happening.”

On Charlie Frye’s interception against the Ravens and the Raiders in the final moments: “Last week, that wasn’t so much on Charlie as much as it was for other factors. This week, it was all on Charlie and hopefully, he’ll learn from that mistake. When you’re in the red zone, you don’t want to take a chance when you can put more points on the board.

On Kamerion Wimbley, who had two sacks: “We feel good where he is the pass rush he is able to give, we like that. He’s progressing well.”

Injury Update: Crennel said the only major injury to come out of the Raiders’ game was to CB Leigh Bodden (ankle).

“It’s pretty stiff they’re taking a look at it and see how he is Wednesday,” Crennel said. “We think Leigh was the only addition to the injury list.”

The Browns could go into the Carolina game without their first three cornerbacks in Bodden, Gary Baxter and Daylon McCutcheon.

“Any time you lose a starter, you’re concerned,” Crennel said. “The starters are starters for a reason. We have to deal with the situation the best we can.”

After this week’s game with Carolina, the Browns have their bye week. Crennel was asked if he thought he would keep Baxter and Bodden out this week.

“We take each situation week by week,” he said. “If we think they can help us win, we’ll play them.”
