The Cleveland Browns signed FB Lawrence Vickers and S Justin Hamilton to 4-year contracts, the team announced today. Financial terms of the deals were not disclosed. Vickers was a sixth-round selection and Hamilton was Cleveland's seventh-round selection in the 2006 NFL Draft.
Vickers (6-0, 233, Colorado), finished his collegiate career with 635 yards on 171 carries and 12 TDs. He added 70 catches for 572 yards and 3 receiving TDs. Vickers was only the tenth player in school history to gain over 500 yards rushing and receiving with Colorado. He also participated on special teams throughout his career and totaled 18 special teams tackles. Following his senior season, Vickers earned second-team All-America honors and was an All-Big Twelve Conference first-team selection by The NFL Draft Report.
Hamilton (6-3, 217, Virginia Tech), finished his career at Virginia Tech with 35 tackles in 13 games and collected 336 yards on 75 carries and 3 TDs as a running back his junior season. Hamilton entered Virginia Tech as a wide receiver his freshman year and moved to halfback in 2004. Before his senior season, he made the switch to free safety, played in every game and intercepted 3 passes for 60 yards.
