Droughns in Trouble Again

After beating a DUI rap in Medina County just a week earlier, Browns running back Reuben Droughns was charged with a domestic violence charge near Denver stemming from a reported heated argument at his house with his wife. The charge is a third degree charge of assault and harassment.

The incident allegedly occurred on May 12, just three days after charges were dropped in Medina County on the DUI charge. Droughns spent a night in jail and posted bond and was released pending a hearing on Thursday.

Browns General Manager Phil Savage acknowledged the incident but had no further comment.

“We are aware of an incident involving running back Rueben Droughns. The Cleveland Browns take these matters seriously, but since this is a legal matter we have no further comment at this time.”

Droughns played with the Broncos until the 2005 season when he was traded to the Browns for Michael Myers and Ebenezer Ekuban. The Browns rewarded Droughns with a new multi-year contract after becoming the first Browns rusher to go over 1,000 yards since 1985.
