The Cleveland Browns released three players from their roster today, as the team continues to refine its depth chart during the 2006 off-season.
DL Amon Gordon, a fifth-round choice in 2004, was the most notable of the players released. Gordon had previously been waived-injured in September, only to be placed on the injured reserve list through the rest of 2005. The 6'2", 305 pound lineman quickly fell down through the team's depth chart during the 2005 training camp, ultimately listed as fourth on the depth chart at right defensive end.
Expectedly, long snapper Jody Littleton was another casualty. Littleton was signed during the 2005 season as regular long snapper Ryan Pontbriand was placed on the injured reserve.
Offensive tackle Lew Dawson, who had been with the Browns since being signed as an undrafted free agent in 2004, was also cut by the team. Dawson was on the Browns' practice squad in 2004 and missed the 2005 season due to a knee injury.
