As we reported, the Browns were enthusiastic about McCown
during his workouts
and over the off-season. The 6-4, 208 pound quarterback provides the team with a
developmental prospect for the future. He was an All-Conference selection in
2001 and played in an aggressive passing offense at Louisiana Tech, which was
often matched up against opponents with far-superior personnel. McCown's brother, Josh, is the current starting quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals.
Also of note: check out
this chat transcript, which offered the first view of the players the Browns
had in for workouts. Three of the six have now been drafted. One of those guys
is still available. Props to chat guest Rob Rang for giving us our first view of
the Browns future draft class.
McCown would move in as the third quarterback on the Browns depth chart, competing with Nate Hybl and Todd Husak for that role.
