Browns Make Roster Moves

Posted Dec 23, 2003

With yet another Brown going on the IR, the roster gets a little bit more suffling...

The Browns today moved DT Antonio Garay onto the Injured Reserve list, and have replaced him with free agent defensive lineman John Nix. The team also made a practice squad move, signing DB David Young and releasing DL David Thompson (who was signed just last week).

Nix was originally drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the seventh round of the 2001 draft and stayed with the team, backing up Brandon Noble, until this Summer. He got a look-see by the 49ers for a week at the end of training camp, but was released quickly. He has not played NFL football in 2003.

David Young returns to the Browns after being swiped off the team's practice squad by the New York Jets in October. Young originally started the season with the Jacksonville Jaguars as a sixth round draft choice. He was released by the Jags in September, and signed with the Browns practice squad four days later. The Jets released him after two months last week, and the Browns have grabbed him back within a week.
