The Bears have re-signed cornerback Sherrick McManis, a special teams standout last season, to a one-year deal.

LAKE FOREST, IL – The Chicago Bears have agreed to terms with CB Sherrick McManis on a one-year contract.

The 6-1, 193-pound McManis has appeared in 50 games with one start over four seasons with Houston (2010-11) and Chicago (2012-13), recording 41 special teams tackles, three defensive stops, one interception, one forced fumble and a fumble recovery. McManis has also blocked a punt which was recovered by the Bears and returned for a touchdown in 2012 at Tennessee.

His 25 special teams tackles over the last two seasons are tied for second most by a Bears player since 2012.

In 2013, McManis appeared in a career-high 15 games, making his first NFL start at St. Louis, ranking second on the Bears with 15 special teams tackles. He entered the league as a fifth round selection (144th overall) of the Houston Texans in the 2010 NFL Draft out of Northwestern.
