Weeden Backpedals

Weeden admitted that with the ouster of Joe Banner and Mike Lombardi his future with the Browns is uncertain.

Brandon Weeden told NFL Media's Michael Silver that he wanted out of Cleveland citing the "lack of support from the most recent front office."

Weeden backpedaled a bit earlier Friday at an appearance at the OU Medical Center.

"It's one of those things that people want to read a lot into," Weeden told the Daily Oklahoman.

"I want to play football,"?Weeden said. "I don't care. I just want to play football and be at a place where it's enjoyable and we can compete and win games. That's really what it's all about."

Weeden was drafted in the first round (22nd overall) in 2011 and has 23 touchdowns and 26 interceptions in his two seasons with the Browns.

Weeden admitted that with the ouster of Joe Banner and Mike Lombardi his future with the Browns is uncertain. With GM Ray Farmer and Coach Mike Pettine running the show now, it is unclear what their plan is moving forward with the quarterback position. Pettine has praised Brian Hoyer publicly, with little talk of the futures of Weeden and Jason Campbell. The Browns are expected to draft a quarterback in May. Weeden is under contract through 2015, but the Browns might choose to trade him or release him outright.

"I understand the business side of everything that's going on," Weeden said. "It's kind of out of my control, because I'm still under contract. The ball's kind of in their court, depending on what they want to do and do with me going forward.

"I kind of have no control over it. It is what it is, and things will work out."?
