Roethlisberger has SC shoulder sprain

Pittsburgh Steelers star quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has an SC sprained right, throwing shoulder and is questionable for Sunday night's AFC North showdown against the Baltimore Ravens, according to coach Mike Tomlin. He didn't rule out Roethlisberger, but his participation in this big game appears to be unlikely.
The sternoclavicular joint is important because it helps support the shoulder. The SC joint links the bones of the arms and shoulder to the vertical skeleton.
Roethlisberger got hurt against the Kansas City Chiefs, an overtime win for Pittsburgh, when he was hit by outide linebacker Justin Houston.
"He's great," Tomlin said of Roethlisberger's mental outlook. As for the injury situation, which includes Troy Polamalu being doubtful for Sunday, Tomlin added: 'Excuses are the tools of the incompetent." Byron Leftwich, who hasn't started a game since the 2009 season and filled in Monday night against Kansas City, will take the first-team snaps under center this week.
