The Oakland Raiders are retaining former offensive coordinator Al Saunders, keeping him on the staff as a senior offensive assistant. New Raiders coach Dennis Allen hired Greg Knapp as offensive coordinator to replace Saunders, who was brought on board during the Hue Jackson era. Saunders has considerable experience, including stints as a head coach and offensive coordinator.

He has worked for the St. Louis Rams, Kansas City Chiefs and the Baltimore Ravens.

He was the receivers coach for the Rams when they won the Super Bowl following the 1999 NFL season.

Saunders has worked in the NFL for 29 seasons and made 15 playoff appearances.
